What People are Saying

  • "Very noticeable difference in the heat felt by both myself and my passenger"

Spent the day recently with Bud Clarke while he installed one of his oil coolers on my 2018 flhtk it was a very enjoyable experience meeting him and having him install the cooler. After a ten day ride, some over 100 degrees, I can say a very noticeable difference in the heat felt by both myself and my passenger. Probably the best improvement I’ve made to a bike. I would highly recommend these coolers.

  • "He had never seen a Twin Cam run so cool"

“Hey, just wanted to let you know that after 2 hours on a Dyno at RC Cycles of Hayward California (30 + years experience) the technician was amazed and stated that he had never seen a Twin Cam run so cool… The oil temp never went over 210 and the average cylinder temp was around 240 to 260.”

Couldn't ask for a better product and customer support. I'm in Australia and have spoken to Bud on the phone several times. He is an awesome guy and stands behind his product. • "Best money I’ve spent on my bike in a long time"

“Put the OilBud™ on.. made a 500 mile trip in 98 degree weather and it never got over 205. I’m riding an 04 Ultra. We were running 80-85 miles an hour. This thing works; we would stop and it would take 50 to 60 miles to open the thermostat all the way back up. Best money I’ve spent on my bike in a long time. I would recommend this to anyone who wants the motor to live. Without it, I would have been running 250 degrees.”

Took same ride today. Temp 94,Oil temp 185-190. Have used several cooler over the yrs OilBud™ does the best job cooling, and is best quality construction of any by far. Will be ordering two more soon.”

  • "I would recommend the OilBud Oil Cooler to anyone who wants an effective oil cooler and still maintain the aesthetics of their bike."

I had my OilBud Oil Cooler that I purchased in July of 2023 installed on my 2006 FXSTSI recently. I’ve ridden the bike approximately 200 miles since I got the bike back from the dealer a couple of weeks ago, and the OilBud Oil Cooler has worked as advertised. I spoke with the mechanic/tech who installed the OilBud Oil Cooler and he commented on how well the OilBud fit in the frame and is barely noticeable. I live in Fort Lauderdale and I ride in a lot of hot weather. My bike has a Harley analog oil temperature thermometer dipstick. When I would ride my bike prior to installing the OilBud Oil Cooler, the oil temperature on the analog thermometer would be between 225 degrees and 250 degrees (depending in large part on how hot it is outside and how long I spent idling). I have ridden the bike approximately 5 times since having the OilBud Oil Cooler installed and the oil temperature has not exceeded 200 degrees at any point during or after a ride. I would recommend the OilBud Oil Cooler to anyone who wants an effective oil cooler and still maintain the aesthetics of their bike.

  • "My oil temperature never went above 215 degrees, even in stop-and-go traffic"

“The verdict is in.... Would you buy a $650 insurance policy for your Twin-cam that guarantees it will run comfortably cooler and greatly extend the life of your engine? Well I have, and it is the OilBud™ cooler! In Florida, we see temperatures approaching 100 degrees with humidity that feels like a sauna bath. I go for long 100+ miles rides all the time and I see my oil temperature settle in at 250 degrees for most of the ride. In heavy stop-and-go traffic, I have seen the temperatures at 280/290. This causes me to hit the Panic Button. Even though I run quality synthetic 20W-50 oil and ride very conservatively, I wonder what those extreme temperatures are doing to my engine. Plus the sheer heat coming off the bike feels like I am sitting on top of a furnace at long red lights. After doing months of careful research on oil coolers, I was intrigued by the innovative concept of the OilBud™ cooler. There are good products available that reduce oil temperature, but many have clunky fans in them and you have to hang an ugly rectangular box on the front of your frame. The fans are a proven concept, but add more concern and electrical hookup. How long will they last on a vibrating big twin bike? I bought an OilBud™ for my 2015 FLSTC Softail and had a dealership install it. Since then, I have gone for several 100+ mile rides in brutal summer weather, but my oil temperature never went above 215 degrees, even in stop-and-go traffic. The bike is noticeably cooler to sit on which greatly increases my comfort. It is no secret that big displacement, air-cooled engines run very hot. This is one of the major issues of the Twin-cam engines as we all know. Bud Clarke is a genius and a great American in the spirit of Sam Walton. He took his extensive knowledge of aircraft and applied it to Harley bikes. The ingenious design cools your engine consistently and reliably, is mostly tucked away out of sight, has no extra maintenance fans, and is made to high quality standards. I know lots of guys who spent $20-30K on new Harleys, but they act like misers when it comes to improvements. That's a shame when there is a $650 guaranteed insurance policy available. Harley-Davidson should hire Bud Clarke and use his brilliant technology on all future bike design.”
